The world community stands accused of weakening an ongoing struggle for justice for those who are missing since their surrender to the military during the final stage of the war 15 years ago.

However, the struggle will go on until we are given justice by the international community, said head of the association of missing persons in the north and the east, Yogarasa Kanagaranjani.

She said 229 parents have died so far during the struggle without knowing the fate of their children.

The agitation began from Kilinochchi on 20 February 2017.

Kanagaranjani was speaking during a protest on 30 April, when they completed 2,627 days of protest.

She also accused certain pro-government organizations of trying to sabotage the links between the eight districts in the north and the east.

A similar protest took place at the old bus stand in Vavuniya.

The Office for Missing Persons, set up in February 2018, has so far failed to account for a single victim of enforced disappearances, protestors alleged.

Parents have refused to accept either the compensation or a certificate for missing persons offered by the government.
