Excavations have ended at the mass grave at Kokkutuduvai in Mullaitivu, where skeletal remains of 52 persons have been dug up.

The third stage of work that ended on 15th, saw 12 skeletal parts being unearthed.

Mullaitivu JMO Kanagasabapathy Vasudeva told journalists that the related judicial process would take place in the coming few days.

The remains are believed to belong to LTTE fighters who died in a firefight.

A 35-page interim report submitted by forensic archaeologist Prof. Somadeva to courts in Mullaitivu said the bodies had been buried during 1994-1996.

Vasudeva said samples have been collected for tests to determine if they belong to persons of enforced disappearances.

Teeth removed from the freshly dug skulls will be sent for DNA testing on a court order if relatives of missing persons request so.
